| Melissa officinalis L.in the Labiatae family is native to the Mediterranean region of Europe and is distributed in Europe,North America,Asia,and other continents.Wild species are also found in central and southern China,southwestern China,and Taiwan.M.officinalis leaf has a long history of application abroad and is widely used in treating mental and central nervous system disorders,cardiovascular diseases,etc.It is also used as an anti-anxiety drug,sleep aid,and detoxifier.Currently,M.officinalis leaf is used as a spice in China,and there are several patents based on M.officinalis leaf.Traditional Chinese medicine(TCM) has long absorbed exotic drugs to continuously expand the resources of Chinese medicine,such as Pogostemonis Herba,Caryophylli Flos,and Aucklandiae Radix,which are still commonly used in China today.Research on the potential introduction of M.officinalis leaf into Chinese medicine is based on its clinical research and application literature,combined with TCM theory to analyze the medicinal properties of M.officinalis leaf.The results show that M.officinalis leaf is pungent and cold and acts on the heart and liver meridians.It has the effects of calming the mind and nerves,enhancing cognitive function,soothing the liver,relieving depression,relieving irritability and pain,and is used to treat symptoms such as restlessness,insomnia,forgetfulness,palpitations,emotional depression,irritability,anxiety,abdominal pain,and toothache. |
