To observe the therapeutic effect of Heluo Shugan Jiaonang (Heluo Shugan Capsule) on shrinking splenomegaly of patients of chronic type B hepatitis.Methods: The observation was designed to be open,random and with control.The treatment group contained 74 cases that were given Heluo Shugan Jiaonang (Heluo Shugan Capsule); the control group contained 102 cases that were given Daihuang Zhechong Wan (Daihuang Zhechong pills).The course of treatment was 3 months with follow up visit for 6 months.For some cases,the indexes of fibrosis were examined before and after treatment.The symptoms,liver function and change of size of the spleen under type B ultrasonic as well as the safety were examined.Results: The effect of Heluo Shugan Jiaonang (Heluo Shugan Capsule) on relieving hepatalgia and shrinking splenomegaly was better than that of Daihuang Zhechong Wan (Daihuang Zhechong pills),and the effect was stable.There wasn’t significant difference in improvement of liver function and indexes of liver fibrosis between the two groups.Conclusion: Heluo Shugan Jiaonang (Heluo Shugan Capsule) is the main ancillary drug for the treatment of chronic type B hepatitis,which has good effect especially on relieving hepatalgia and shrinking splenomegaly.
