Abstract:This paper provides an overview on the National Policy on Traditional & Complementary Medicine(T/CM) including Chinese Medicine.The general objectives of the national policy on the T/CM are to ensure that safe,quality T/CM practices and products are made available to the public and to facilitate the integration of T/CM into the national healthcare system.The specific objectives are divided into four main components namely practice,training,product and research.The increasing development of T/CM in many parts of the world and greater reliance on the sharing of evidence based medicine and the knowledge of T/CM shall be benefited through regional and international co operation with other T/CM centres via seminars,workshops and other activities as well as the establishment of Referral centre(s) with networking facilities for the practice,training,education,product as well as the research and development of T/CM by the practitioner bodies.Hence,the development of the national policy on T/CM Malaysia will help to strengthen the role of T/CM in national healthcare system and complement practitioners' efforts towards an integrated healthcare network for the benefit of both the healthcare practioners and the public.
