Abstract:to explore effective treatments for acute massive cerebral infarction.Methods:Forty-eight patients were randomly divided to treatment group and control group. Twenty-four patients of the control group were given routine western medicine treatment, such as reducing intracranial pressure using dehydrator、cerebral protection、anti-platelet aggregation、blood circular improvement, and symptomatic therapy; The 24 patients of the treatment group were given enema of Chinese medicine in addition to western medicine treatment. Effect was observed 28 days later. Results:the total effective rate for treatment group was 79.8% with a significant difference to 53.6% of the control group (P<0.05). Treatment group also scored significantly higher at National Institute of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) (P<0.05) and Glasgow Coma Scale (GCS) (P<0.05).Conclusion:Integrative treatments of Chinese and western medicine is superior to simple western treatment, and can remarkably reduce neurologic impairment and death rate.
