The theories of triple energizer, life gate, and qi transformation have always been controversial within the circle of Chinese medicine. In this article, the author expounded the three theories, pointing out that triple energizer, serving as the basic channel for qi transformation, had solid physical foundation, the life gate, being primary source for qi transformation, had unique functional characteristics, and that qi transformation was of instrumental values.
