The article discusses various problems facing standardization of Chinese Medicine: inconsistency, insufficient coordination, lack of optimization and simplification, etc. There are two primary causes, i.e. Chinese medicine’s own characteristics don’t accommodate well with standardization procedures, lack of effective medium to promote established standards. The author suggested Chinese medicine and standardization should be better coordinated with dynamic space and time perspective. Good judgment on contents of standardization is necessary. The standard system should be one reflecting Chinese medicine’s own characteristics.
