To investigate effectiveness of Shengmai Drink on top of Danzhi Xiaoyao Powder on post diabetes depression. Methods:Ninety patients identified as qi-yin dual insufficiency and liver-depression qi stagnation were randomized. The treatment group was treated with Shengmai Drink on top of Danzhi Xiaoyao Powder with Prozac as control for a course of 1 month. Results:The total effective rate of treatment group was 88.6%, 14 patients had the conditions under controlled, 17 patients were significantly effective, 8 patients were effective, 5 patients didn’t quite respond to the treatment. The total effective rate of control group was 78.6%, 9 patients had their conditions under controlled, 15 patients were significantly effective, 9 patients were effective, 9 patients didn’t quite respond to the treatment. The treatment group had statistically better effectiveness (P<0.01), higher SDS and HAMD scores (P<0.01), without adverse event reported. Conclusion:Shengmai Drink on top of Danzhi Xiaoyao Powder is effective and safe for treatment of post diabetes depression.
