To observe the effect of Naoxintong Capsule on treatment of lipid and carotid atherosclerosis plaques in patients with cerebral infarction.Methods:A total of 172 cases of patient were randomized into two groups， control group was treated with routine methods and treatment group was treated with routine methods and Naoxintong Capsule 1.6g， three times everyday for twelve months.The lipid ， intima-media thickness and carotid atherosclerosis plaques were measured before and after treatment respectively for each patient.Results:After twelve months， in each group， the changes of total cholesterol， triglyceride， low density lipoprotein cholesterol were determined before and after treatment（P<0.05) .In the group of treating with Naoxintong Capsule， there were more evident changes of total cholesterol、low density lipoprotein cholesterol and carotid atherosclerosis plaques than the control group（P<0.05).Conclusion:Naoxintong Capsule has good effect in treating lipid and stabilizing carotid atherosclerosis plaques and preventing the progression of plaques.
