Abstract:To observe the clinical effects of anterior-posterior point combination acupuncture in treating patients of simple obesity with insulin resistance (IR). Methods:A total of 57 cases were randomly divided into two groups: 29 for the treatment group and 28 for the control group. Both groups were given the same basic treatments, including diet and exercise. Only the points choosing were different between the treatment group and the control group. The treatment group chose the alarm points and the transport points of the spleen meridian and stomach meridian; while the control group chose other points of the spleen meridian and stomach meridian. Weight, BMI, waist circumference, hip circumference and WHR were measured before and after treatment. Results:The weight and BMI in both groups decreased obviously. However, the treatment group had better effect in decreasing waist circumference and hip circumference than that of the control group, and its total effective rate was also higher. Conclusion:The treatment of anterior-posterior point combination acupuncture was effective in treating patients of simple obesity with insulin resistance. Especially for the abdominal obesity patients, the treatment of anterior-posterior point combination acupuncture could significantly reduce the waist circumference and hip circumference.
