The spasm after cerebral apoplexy can severely affect the motor function， activities of daily living (ADL)， quality of life (QOL) of patients. And it also delays the rehabilitation process. The treatment of spasm plays a key role in the rehabilitation of limb function for cerebral apoplexy patients. This article reviewed the mechanism and treatment of spasm from both traditional Chinese medicine and western medicine.
