The methods of curing the epidemic febrile diseases should be facilitating the Qi movement, dispelling exogenous pathogen and saving Yin liquid. It was prohibited to use the bitter cold medicine during treatment of the disease, while as one of the bitter cold medicine, scutellaria was widely used to treat epidemic febrile diseases. This paper analyzed Professor Pu Fu zhou`s experience in using the scutellariae to cure epidemic febrile diseases, such as the measles, Japanese encephalitis, adenovirus pneumonia and so on. The result showed that although scutellaria was one of the bitter cold medicines, it was appropriate to be used to cure epidemic febrile diseases when the treatment plan was flexible and time was suitable.
