Abstract:Abstract There were theories on “strangury patterns pertaining to liver and gallbladder” in the ancient classics. This paper brings out the idea of treating strangury patterns through treatment on liver and gallbladder on the foundation of the physiological and pathological characteristics of the liver, the pathways of meridians and collaterals, and its relations with strangury patterns. The treatments were conducted on four aspects, including “soothing the liver and relieving the depression, clearing damp heat in liver and gallbladder, soothing liver and invigorating spleen, nourishing the liver and kidney” which showed satisfactory therapeutic effect. It inspired us that when treating the patterns, attention shall be given to the relations between the local organs and the whole body, the analysis of pathogen, combination of the four diagnostic methods, as well as syndrome differentiation. Female patients shall be asked about conditions of menstruation, leucorrhea, and baby delivery when giving the treatment. Patients at different ages shall be given different medicines and psychological treatment when necessary.
