To verify healing efficacy of both acupuncture and Chinese herb medicine to cure facial paralysis. Methods： Thirty patients were divided into acupuncture combining medicine group，and acupuncture group with 15 cases in each group. Patients in the acupuncture combining medicine group were treated with both acupuncture and oral administration of Chinese herb medicine; and the acupuncture group only gave patients acupuncture. The acupoints were Fung chi’ih，tsuan chu，ching ming，cheek crevice，Shimonoseki，yangbai，yi fung，ying hsiang，ti ts’ang，jia che，temple，ho ku，tsu san li，t’ai ch’ung，etc. The prescription of Chinese herb medicine was modified Qianzheng san. The healing efficacy and main changes of symptoms on the patients in the two groups were compared. Results： The cure rate for the patients in acupuncture combining medicine group was 93.3% (14/15)，and that of the other group was 80% (12/15). Conclusion： The group of acupuncture combining Chinese herb medicines is more effective in terms of healing efficacy and the course of treatment.
