Through literature study， to analyze and study the experience and knowledge of ancient and modern people on compatibleness of traditional Chinese medicine， so as to summarize the herbs of the compatibleness for traditional Chinese medicines including the drug groups of “eighteen incompatible medicaments” and “nineteen medicaments of mutual antagonism” for clinical reference.Methods：The modern literature researches after the founding of PR China on compatibleness of traditional Chinese medicine were retrieved on CNKI， and typical and important papers were selected and analyzed.Conclusion：“Eighteen incompatible medicaments” and “Nineteen medicaments of mutual antagonism” are not absolute in clinical application， and some of them can be used in the same presciption under certain strictly limited circumstances.
