Vital qi weakness is the main cause of tumor formation according to Chinese medicine theories， therefore Fu Zheng Pei Ben(restoring vital qi and strengthening the basics) is an important treatment principle. In this article， Fu Zheng herbs were divided into four categories， ie. tonifying qi， tonifying blood， nourishing yin， tonifying yang， the pharmacology and pharmacodynamics of which were discussed to support clinic use of them in tumor treatment， and to promote the rational use and enhance the effectiveness.
