To review and evaluate the progress of the diagnosis and treatment of colorectal cancer by Chinese medicine in recent 5 years. Methods： In China， Chinese medicine is an important part of the multidisciplinary treatment for colorectal cancer. In this review， the recent clinical researches on Chinese medicine for colorectal cancer were discussed from three aspects： syndrome differentiation， treatment progress， and curative effect evaluation. Results： The objective research of syndrome differentiation and treatment of colorectal cancer has become a hot spot， and the effectiveness of Chinese medicine for colorectal cancer was further affirmed. Nevertheless， there was still lack of the unified syndrome differentiation standards， evaluation standard applicable to Chinese medicine， and high quality randomized controlled trials with large samples and multiple centers. Conclusion： The researches of Chinese medicine for the treatment of colorectal cancer has made encouraging progress， but more efforts by multiple parties should be put into this area.
