The traditional TCM theory relies on peoples living experience. This paper takes “metal of nature” as an example, to clarify how the ancients explained the relatively hazy concepts of lung system in TCM with the metaphorical mapping by taking the familiar knowledge of metal as source domain. In other words it is to understand the cognitive language of TCM by knowing how the ancients develop TCM theory in the process of exploring the using of analogical reasoning.
