To discuss the spleen and kidney correlation theory from philosophical perspective and from the clinical experience of nephropathy diagnosis and treatment. The paper consists of two parts, one part described the philosophical thinking in the diagnosis and treatment of renal diseases, the other part reflect the application of spleen and kidney correlation in the diagnosis and treatment for kidney disease. The five zang organs is an example of transforming philosophical theory to clinical practice, which has been applied to treat all sorts of chronic kidney disease, eg. renal amyloidosis, and continues to exert profound influence TCM academic and clinical aspects.
