Abstract:To observe the curative effect and safety of integrated traditional Chinese and western medicine in treating systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) complicated with herpes zoster (HZ). Methods: A total of 56 cases of patients with SLE were randomly divided into treatment group and control group with 28 patients in each. Both groups were treated wiht conventional treatment and acyclovir orally. Additionally, heat-clearing, blood-cooling antitoxicant herbs and helium-neon laser therapy were given to the treatment group. The treatment lasts for 14 days. Results: After treatment, the results of medicinal diagnosis in treatment group showed better than the control group in the clinical manifestation of total effective rate, pain outcome, the duration of herpes regression, and the duration of crusts form and fall. The results is of statistical significance with P<0.05. Adverse reaction has not been seen in both groups. Conclusion: Integrated traditional Chinese and western medicine is an effective and safe way to treat SLE complicated with HZ, and worth spreading for clinical use.
