Abstract:Wang Xugao, a Qing-Dynasty TCM doctor, is famous for his clinical experience of treating hepatopathy. To study his clinical experience preliminarily in this area, this article analyzed 61 cases from his work: Huanxicaotang Medical Record: “liver-qi, liver-fire and liver-wind”. Wang Xugao considered yin deficiency and yang hyperactivity disorder between liver and spleen together with phlegm and stasis accumulation as the main factors of hepatopathy. He paid attention to nourishing the kidney yin to control the liver yang, strengthening spleen to control liver, combining with removing blood stasis and eliminating phlegm and damp. His prescriptions focused on treating primarily the key symptoms and received excellent curative effects.
