Taking the state intellectual property office of the Chinese patent database as the data source， and using“Traditional Chinese medicine extract residues” as the name of the patent and the keywords， to retrieve and analyze the patent data of year 1985 to 2014. Finally quantitative and qualitative analysis was given to “Traditional Chinese medicine extract residues” related to patent document application type， application， the applicant， IPC technology and so on， trying to find out a solution to the problem， in order to better develop traditional Chinese medicine industry in China for new research idea.
