Sun Simiao is a well-known physician in Tang dynasty, whose medical thought system occupies an important position in the history of Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM). Saint Sun’s Newly Carved Qian Jin Fang(Xin Diao Sun Zhen Ren Qian Jin Fang) was more authentic than Valuable Prescriptions for Emergency(Bei Ji Qian Jin Yao Fang), as it contains more original theories of Sun Simiao, which can reflect TCM theories in Tang dynasty authentically. This paper aims to dig the theories and academic characteristics regarding liver in Saint Sun’s Newly Carved Qian Jin Fang which represents the academic thought of that time. Through comparison between the two books above, the authors found out theoretical differences regarding liver. This could provide new researching areas in theory of organ manifestations, and discovered its impact on TCM of different ages.
