Rheumatoid arthritis(RA) is a kind of autoimmune disease, and its main clinical manifestation is symmetric polyarthriti. Synovitis is the main pathological characteristics of early RA, which can cause excessive activation of osteocytes, leading to joint bone destruction. Treating synovitis is the currant major method for the treatment of RA. Traditional Chinese Medicine believed that synovium belongs to “tendon”, and since liver charges tendon, liver plays an important role in the physiological and pathological processes of tendon. Besides, liver qi and blood disorder is the pathogenesis of many clinical manifestations of RA. Therefore, it is fair to say that there are a wide range of connections between liver and rheumatoid arthritis in terms of disease location and pathogenesis, which will be useful for the prevention of RA.
