To observe the clinical efficacy of Fangshi scalp acupuncture for treating nerve root type of cervical spondylosis. Methods: Sixty cases with celvical spondylotic radiculopathy were randomly divided into two groups——a treatment group 30 cases and a control group of 30 cases. The treatment group received Fangshi scalp acupuncture and the control group with conventional electroacupuncture method. Both groups were performed one time/day, 5 times/week. Two week as a course, and a review of case was given after every two courses. The treatment lasted for a month. To observe the clinical efficacy, pain index (PRI), visual analogue pain score (VAS), and pain condition (PPI) of the two groups. Results: The total effective rate was 90% in the treatment group and 83.33% in the control group without statistical difference(P>0.05). However, treatment duration of the treatment group was shorter than that of the control group with a significant difference(P<0.01). In addition, the treatment group performed better than the control group in the aspects of PRI feeling points, PRI emotion points PRI score, VAS, and PPI. Conclusion: Fangshi scalp acupuncture has a good therapeutic effect on celvical spondylotic radiculopathy.
