Diabetes falls into the category of wasting-thirst disease in TCM(Traditional Chinese Medicine). “Wasting-thirst disease was firstly recorded in “Suwen·Qibing Lun”. TCM practitioners in ancient China has accumulated various experience in treating Wasting-thirst disease. Zhang Zhongjing describes the differentiation and treatment of this disease in detail in the Golden Chamber, which is more comprehensive than Nei Jing. He also put forward that this disease should be treated from warming kidney. The main prescription to treat the disease is concise and comprehensive, with favorable curative effect, and has been widely accepted from generation to generation. This article aims to share the views of author in reading the Golden Chamber, and illustrate the differentiation of this disease.
