To explore curative effect of Quyu Jiegu Decoction combined with Changgu Jiegu Powder in treatment of humeral fractures. Methods: A hundred and four-eight cases of humeral shaft closed fracture were divided in two groups, with 74 patients in the control group who were treated with conventional western medicine treatment method, splint fixation or scapulo humeral plaster fixation after reduction. Patients in the treatment group (74 cases) were additionally treated with Quyu Jiegu Decoction and externally applied Changgu Jiegu Powder compared with the control group. Pain relieving, subsidence of swelling, callus formation and complications of patients in the two groups were observed and compared. Results: All 74 cases of the treatment recovered in six weeks and the recovery time was lessened and the recovery rate was remarkable improved in the treatment group compared with the control group whose total efficacy was lower than that of the treatment group. Callus formed in the treatment group and X-line score was superior to that of the control group with statistically significant difference (P<0.05). Conclusion: Quyu Jiegu Decoction combined with Changgu Jiegu Powder of for humerus supracondylar fracture has exact effect on improving symptoms as pain, swelling, callus formation and reducing complications, compared with external fixation after reduction without drug treatment.
