Alzheimer falls into the category of amnesia and dementia in TCM. The pathogenesis of it is mostly related to the dysfunction of clear qi ascending and turban qi descending. Historically, strengthening the spleen and stomach to recovery the function of ascending and descending of qi is effective in treating an array of diseases. Despite many doctors claim that the deficiency of kidney’s essence is the main cause of Alzheimer disease on the basis that kidney is the sea of the marrow, the spleen and the stomach provide the basis material for the postnatal essence of kidney. Therefore, to supply qi and blood for kidney by restoring the function of ascending clear qi and descending turbial qi of spleen and stomach can be a reliable precaution and treatment method for Alzheimer disease.
