To verify and test the effect of Shugan Heying Decoction on patients with Post-stroke depression (PSD). Methods:Sixty patients were divided into two groups. Both of the two groups were received neurological routine treatment for stroke, while patients in the treatment group received Shugan Heying Decoction additionally. HAMD, NIHSS and ADL scale were performed on the patients, at the day when they admitted into the hospital, 2 weeks later, 6 weeks later and 8 weeks later, to evaluate the improvements of PSD symptoms. Results:The efficacy was significantly improved after the treatment between the two groups (P<0.05). But there was no significant improvement in neurological function recovery in the treatment group (P>0.05). Conclusion:Shugan Heying Decoction could not only treat PSD, but also may further recover the defect of neural functions, suggesting traditional Chinese medicine therapy for PSD worth extensive application.
