In recent years, the importance of gastrointestinal tract is gradually recognized, since it is one of the earliest and most seriously affected organs in the course of sepsis. Early and accurate assessment of acute gastrointestinal dysfunction in patients with sepsis can promote timely intervention and thus reduce the uncontrolled inflammatory response caused by the dysfunction. The earlier the treatment starts up, the better prognosis the patients will have. At present, the clinical diagnosis of acute gastrointestinal injury in sepsis is still lack of specific diagnostic indicators or system. Under these circumstances, the author summarized the advances of score and grading system and serum biological markers about acute gastrointestinal injury of sepsis, with the purpose of promoting the early diagnosis and treatment of acute gastrointestinal injury in sepsis.
