The group study method can accurately and efficiently demonstrate the the correlation between interventions and diseases, but its consistency requirement and strict control measures are not suitable for the clinical practice of traditional Chinese medicine （TCM）. Multi-varied elaborate clinical practice of traditional Chinese medicine needs effective individual evaluation measures, but there is not individualized evaluation methodology. This study is based on the exploratory investigation and analysis on the elements of the individual research methods and preliminary construct the individual evaluation method to put forward the differentiation strategy of TCM clinical efficacy evaluation, which means to rely on the group study methods in evidence-producing stage and pay attention to individual evaluation in evidence-using stage. The purpose of differentiation strategy is to systematically arrange the clinical efficacy evaluation procedure of TCM, and to promote the transformation of TCM evidence-based medicine methodology from linear innovation to integrated innovation.
