Abstract:To analyze the current evidence of lingguizhugan decoction as a TCM prescription and its application in several diseases quantitatively. Methods:We searched databases of CBM, CNKI, Wanfang Data and PubMed since foundation till December, 2016. After selection, included studies were categorized by items as publication time, journal, author regional distribution, literature type, type of disease, clinical literature study, adverse reactions and dosage form, etc. Current study on lingguizhugan decoction and its application for major diseases have been analyzed. Results: 1) There were 774 publications found, including 54 of animal experiments, 26 of theoretical study and 694 of clinical articles. 2) The first time that lingguizhugan decoction was reported in the literature was in 1956, then the number of literature research of lingguizhugan decoction’s publication time showed “triple-stage” increasing trend: quantity of literature from 1.6 articles/year before 1988 increased to18.5articles in 1989-2004 / year, and then increased to 40.6 article/year in 2005-2016 .3) 774 articles were distributed in 155 journals. Top 22 with most publications were all Chinese journals, accounted for 14.19% of the total. 4) As to 774 papers’ authors, 25.9% authors were from the East China area, 22.5% of the authors the central region, the rest of other areas relatively small. 5) The clinical application of lingguizhugan decoction is widely involved in internal medicine, surgery, gynecology, pediatrics, dermatology, especially cardiovascular system diseases, digestive system diseases and nervous system diseases. 6) About clinical research type, case reports were more than randomized controlled trials; there were few reports about adverse reactions. Dosage form was priority to water decoction. Conclusion: The clinical research literature of lingguizhugan decoction has increased year by year, and the clinical application of it continues to expand. Indications widely involved in internal medicine, surgery, gynecology, pediatrics, dermatology, etc. The advantage target diseases of lingguizhugan decoction are chronic heart failure, Meniere’s syndrome, gastroenteritis, hypertension and chronic bronchitis. The research on it is taking shape, but the overall quality of the study is low. We need to carry out high-quality, large sample, multi-center randomized controlled clinical trials in the future to provide high quality evidence for clinical application.
