Abstract:To investigate the clinical effects of acupuncture combined with Gengnian Quyu Decoction on Liver-Kidney Yin deficiency in patients during the transitional period of menopause.Methods:One hundred and sixty patients with Liver-Kidney Yin deficiency during their menopausal transition were treated with acupuncture combined with Gengnian Quyu Decoction (specific recipe) for 12 weeks. The clinical effects were compared by modified Kupperman grading scale, as well as the levels of serum E2,P,FSH and LH before and after treatment.Results:Significant differences were observed in the serum levels of E2,P,FSH and LH before and after treatment(P<0.01).Kupperman grading scores of(33.18±9.76) and (11.58±5.64) were recorded in patients before and after treatment, respectively (P<0.01).The rate of therapeutic efficiency of this treatment was 96.25%.Conclusion:Significant therapeutic effect was observed when combined acupuncture-Gengnian Quyu Decoction treatment was administered in menopausal transition patients with Liver-Kidney Yin deficiency.The very high efficacy of this treatment makes it a promising regimen.
