Abstract:To study chemical composition of Epimedium leaves. Methods:The extraction method, silica gel, extraction solvent, preparation of high performance liquid chromatography, Sephadex LH-20, ODS and other purification methods were used to study the separation of chemical constituents of the leaves of epimedium. NMR and mass spectrometry were comprehensively applied to identify all the compounds. Results:7 compounds were isolated and identified from the 95% ethanol extract of Epimedium dry leaves (V/V), including (1) 4-hydroxy cinnamic acid methyl ester, (2) 4-hydroxy-3-polyisoprene-benzoic acid, (3) 3,5,7,4' tetramethoxflavone, (4) 2,3,4,6,7-five methoxy-Philippines, (5) 5,7,4'-trimethoxy-4-phenylcoumarin, (6) 4-(2E)-2-hydroxy-nonenoic acid, (7) 4,5, dihydroxyl-2,3,6-trimethoxy-9,10-dihydrophenanthrene. Conclusion:Compound 1-7 is firstly isolated from Epimedium genus compounds.
