To investigate the effects of Tongqiao Zhiqiu Decoction combined with conventional western medicine on clinical symptoms,inflammatory factors,anxiety and respiratory function in patients with allergic rhinitis (AR).Methods:A total of 96 patients with AR treated in First Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University from June 2015 to November 2016 were selected and divided into treatment group and control group according to different treatment methods,with 48 cases in each group.The patients in the control group were treated with conventional western medicine,and the patients in the treatment group were treated with Tongqiao Zhiqiu Decoction on the basis of the same treatment in control group.Both groups were treated continuously for 3 weeks and followed by at least 3 months after treatment.The clinical changes were analyzed and compared.The inflammatory factors and respiratory function of the 2 groups were measured and compared.The anxiety status of the 2 groups was evaluated by the self-rating anxiety scale (SAS).Results:The effective rate of treatment group was 95.83%,which was significantly higher than that of the control group (83.33%) (P<0.05).After treatment,the scores of IL-4,IL-5,TNF-α and SAS in the 2 groups were significantly decreased after the treatment (P<0.05 or P<0.01),and the scores of treatment group was decreased more significantly than those of the control group (P<0.05 or P<0.01).After treatment,the FEV1,FVC,FEV1/FVC in the 2 groups were significantly increased than before treatment (P<0.01),and the treatment group increased more than the control group (P<0.01).Conclusion:Routine western medicine combined with Tongqiao Zhiqiu Decoction in the treatment of AR can significantly improve the clinical symptoms of patients,reduce the body's inflammatory response,and help to stabilize the patient's mood,improve its respiratory function,which has the exact effects.
