To investigate the effects of moxa smoke and cigarette smoke on asthenozoospermia in rats. Methods:A total of 32 male rats were randomly divided into a vehicle group,a model group,a moxa smoke group and a cigarette smoke group, with 8 rats in each group.Asthenozoospermia model was established by intragastric administration of ornidazole. The effects of moxa smoke and cigarettes on the indexes of sperm motility, viability, density etc.were observed by computer-assisted sperm analysis system. Results:Compared with model group, moxa smoke can significantly improve sperm motility, viability,as well as other functional indicators including curve-line velocity(VCL),straight-line velocity(VSL),and average path velocity(VAP).The sperm motility, viability,VCL,VSL,VAP and other functional indicators in cigarette group were significantly lower than those in vehicle group and moxa smoke group. There was no significant change on sperm density in each group. Conclusion:Moxa and cigarette smoke have different effects on the body.Moxa can increase sperm motility, viability, and exercise capacity in rats with asthenozoospermia, and has certain effects on improving asthenospermia.
