To explore the effects of acupuncture on the ovarian function in obese patients with polycystic ovary syndrome(PCOS).Methods:A total of 112 cases patients with obese PCOS who were treated in the Second Affiliated Hospital of Heilongjiang University of Traditional Chinese Medicine from March 2015 to April 2018 were selected as the research objects and were divided into a control group and an observation group, with 56 cases in each group. The control group was treated with metformin, while the observation group was treated with acupuncture on the basis of the control group. The 2 groups were treated for 3 menstrual cycles. The ovarian function,BMI,the levels of serum sex hormones and LEP level of the 2 groups were compared before and after treatment in the 2 groups, the occurrence situation of the adverse reactions in the 2 groups were recorded. Results:Compared with those before treatment, the OV significantly reduced after treatment in the 2 groups, the number of follicles and BMI significantly decreased(P<0.05 or P<0.01),and the observation group was significantly lower than the control group(P<0.05 or P<0.01).Compared with those before treatment, the levels of serum LEP,LH,FSH,T and LH/FSH significantly decreased, and the observation group was significantly lower than the control group(P<0.05 or P<0.01); the levels of serum E2 significantlyincreased in the 2 groups, and the observation group was significantly higher than that of the control group(P<0.01).The incidence of total adverse reactions in the observation group was 5.36%,which was significantly lower than that in the control group(16.07%)(P<0.05).Conclusion:Acupuncture can effectively regulate the levels of serum sex hormone in obese PCOS patients, reduce the level of serum LEP and degree of obesity, and improve ovarian function. The effects are better than Western medicine alone, with high safety.
