In traditional medicine，there is no exact record of vascular dementia(VD)，but it is scattered in the categories of “literary infatuation”“dementia”“dementia”“forgetfulness” and other refractory diseases.The pathological process of the disease is complex and changeable，either from deficiency to disease or from deficiency to excess.The treatment of VD in traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)not only starts from the whole，but also focuses on the local，so as to achieve the combination of disease differentiation and syndrome differentiation.This paper discusses the TCM research of this disease from the aspects of etiology，pathogenesis，syndrome differentiation，TCM treatment，acupuncture treatment，etc.，in order to provide an objective theoretical basis for better clinical treatment of this disease.
