Diabetes is a chronic disease,which belongs to the category of Xiaoke in Traditional Chinese Medicine.Diabetes and its complications,diabetic nephropathy,often threaten public health and create economic burden to the society.Professor Lu Fu'er revised fenugreek pill,a famous prescription for tonifying the kidney,and Jiaotai Pill,a representative prescription for tonifying the kidney and detoxifying the Yang,to form a modified fenugreek pill,including fenugreek,Coptis chinensis,cinnamon and Achyranthes bidentata.This article reviews the clinical application and mechanism of modified fenugreek pill in the treatment of diabetes and diabetic nephropathy.
