The high incidence of chronic constipation seriously affects the quality of life of patients and can cause a series of serious harms.According to the characteristics of constipation with multiple causes，multiple diseases，and variable pathogenesis，Chinese medicine(CM) uses flexible syndrome differentiation and overall treatment ideas to create many effective prescriptions.Among them，Chinese patent medicines have obvious advantages in the treatment of chronic constipation.This paper summarizes CM's understanding of chronic constipation，analyzes its characteristics of syndromes and treatments and medication rules，and uses the commonly used clinical prescription Shouhui Tongbian Capsules as an example to explain the advantages and applications of Chinese patent medicines in the treatment of chronic constipation，with a view to providing patients with simple and constipation，Effective and cheap treatment.
