Migraine is a common primary headache，which has been listed by the WHO as one of the four most serious chronic dysfunction diseases.Chronic migraine is the most common disabling complication.Microglia release a variety of excitatory neurotransmitters after activation，which affects the excitability of neurons and participates in the occurrence and maintenance of pain.Studies have confirmed that microglia and its related receptors play an important role in the chronic process of migraine.This review mainly discussed the research progress of microglia in chronic migraine and the regulatory effect of acupuncture on it.It was proposed that microglia may be involved in the new research ideas of acupuncture in the treatment of chronic migraine.This review is expected to provide scientific references for the study on the pathogenesis and treatment prospects of chronic migraine.
