The present study investigated the effects of acupuncture on the treatment，rehabilitation，and pain relief of patients with knee osteoarthritis(KOA) and explored the application effect of acupuncture in KOA patients to prevent more serious risks and improve the functional outcomes of KOA patients in order to provide references for clinical treatment.The published research articles related to acupuncture in the treatment of KOA were systematically retrieved，and the mechanisms，methods，latest techniques，and application prospects of acupuncture against KOA were summarized and analyzed.As revealed by the multifactorial and multifaceted analysis，different acupuncture methods were effective and safe in the treatment of KOA with full recognition of the various influencing factors of KOA，which could effectively promote patient health and improve patient satisfaction.
