Abstract:To lay a foundation for meridian diagnosis by measuring and calculating transcutaneous carbon dioxide(CO2) emission rate(TCER) and evaluating the imbalance degree of left-right meridians(IBD-LRM),the imbalance degree of exterior-interior meridians(IBD-EIM),and the imbalance degree of hand-foot meridians(IBD-HFM) in healthy people. Methods:A transcutaneous CO2 partial pressure curve at the source points of twelve meridians were measured on 30 healthy volunteers by PeriFlux Laser Doppler tcpO2/tcpCO2 System.A section of the linear curve after the minimum underwent the least square fitting with MATLAB,and the slope of the fitted curve was taken as TCER.Then,IBD-LRM,IBD-EIM,IBD-HFM and their absolute values were calculated.Results:1) The mean values of TCER in the left and right meridians were(2.21±0.56) and(2.24±0.59) mmHg/s,respectively,which showed no significant difference(P>0.05),and the mean IBD-LRM was(0.71±8.00)%.The absolute value of IBD-LRM ranged from(14.04±9.66)% to(40.63±23.36)%,with the mean of(25.86±6.40)%. 2) The mean values of TCER in the exterior and interior meridians were(2.18±0.61) and(2.27±0.59) mmHg/s,respectively,which had no statistical difference(P>0.05),and the mean IBD-EIM was(6.18±14.35)%.The absolute value of IBD-EIM ranged from(20.26±14.82)% to(58.37±20.19)%,with the mean of(38.50±8.64)%. 3) The mean values of TCER in the hand and foot meridians were(2.35±0.63) and(2.10±0.64) mmHg/s,respectively,which was higher in hand meridians than in foot meridians(P<0.05).The mean IBD-HFM was(13.63±16.93)%.The absolute value of IBD-HFM ranged from(26.68±20.69)% to(56.55±18.29)%,with the mean of(41.12±7.19)%.Conclusion:The mean TCERs from the source points are close between left and right meridians as well as between exterior and interior meridians, while they are higher in the hand meridians than in the foot meridians. The absolute value of IBD-LFM is low, while those of IBD-EIM and IBD-HFM are high in healthy people.
