To observe the effect of Qiwei Tiexie(QWTX) Prescription on lipid metabolism in experimental SD rats with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD)，and to provide theoretical basis for clinical use of QWTX.Methods:Ninety SD rats were randomly divided into normal group，model group，positive drug group and QWTX high-，medium-and low-dose groups，15 in each group.The normal group was fed with normal diet，while the rest groups were fed with high-fat diet.After 3 weeks of feeding，each treatment group was given corresponding drugs for intervention，and the rats were weighed one by one weekly to adjust the dosage of drugs for 6 weeks.At the end of the 9th week，rats in each group were sacrificed.Blood samples were collected and serum was prepared routinely to detect the contents of blood lipids ［total cholesterol(TC)，triglycerides(TG)，high-density lipoprotein cholesterol(HDL-C)，low-density lipoprotein cholesterol(LDL-G)］，free fatty acids(FFA) and nitric oxide(NO).The contents of superoxide dismutase(SOD) and malondialdehyde(MDA) in liver homogenate were also determined.The histopathological examination of liver tissues was conducted to observe the degree of steatosis in liver cells by hematoxylin and eosin(HE) staining.Results:1) Pathological pictures showed that the volume of liver cells in the model group increased，and mixed lipid droplets with inflammatory cell infiltration were seen in the cytoplasm of the cells.QWTX reduced the content of liver lipids and inhibited the lipid deposition.2) In blood lipid levels，there was significant difference between QWTX group and model group(P<0.05).3) Compared with model group，QWTX groups decreased the levels of MDA in liver and FFA in serum，and increased the levels of SOD in liver and NO in serum(P<0.05).Conclusion:QWTX could improve the lipid metabolism of NAFLD，and the mechanism might be related to anti-lipid peroxidation.
