Acute lumbar sprain,a common disease of acute lumbar lesions, belongs to the category of “low back pain” in traditional Chinese medicine and commonly known as “Shanyao” and “Chaqi” in Chinese. Its main clinical symptoms are low back pain and limited functional activities. At present, the treatment of acute lumbar sprain mainly includes Western medicine(mainly anti-inflammatory and analgesic),Chinese medicine, acupuncture, massage bone-setting manipulation, exercise therapy, and combined therapy.Among them, massage bone-setting technique, with the effects of unblocking blood vessels, relieving spasm, dredging meridian, reducing swelling and analgesia, gives certain stimulation by acting on local muscles of lumbosacral region, which promotes the release of soft tissue spasm and the absorption of inflammatory substances and improves local blood circulation, thereby achieving the purpose of analgesia.Lingnan Lin's bone-setting manipulation was founded by Professor Lin Yingqiang. It is characterized by explosive force, and places equal emphasis on muscles and bones as well as manual bone-setting and tendon management, revealing a significant clinical effect on acute lumbar sprain. In this paper, the authors discussed the treatment of acute lumbar sprain by this manipulation from the theory of “bone dislocation, tendons out of grooves”,to share the same approach.
