To explore the effect of A.venetum tea(AVT) on sleep of mice. Methods:Mice received(oral administration) high-dose,medium-dose,and low-dose AVT for 30 days. Then, sodium pentobarbital-induced sleep experiment, hypnosis experiment under subthreshold dose of sodium pentobarbital, and barbital sodium sleep latency experiment were adopted to evaluate the function of AVT.Results:The sodium pentobarbital-induced sleep time was longer(P<0.01) and sleep latency was shorter(P<0.01) in the high-dose AVT group than in the negative control group. The sleep time in the medium-dose AVT group was longer than the negative control group(P<0.05).The number of sleeping mice, sleep time, and occurrence of sodium pentobarbital-induced sleep in the negative control group were insignificantly different from those in the three AVT groups(P>0.05).There was no significant difference in body weight between the negative control group and the three AVT groups(P>0.05).Conclusion:AVT had the effect of improving sleep.
