To systematically evaluate the efficacy of acupuncture and moxibustion in the recovery of postoperative gastrointestinal function of colorectal cancer. Methods:China National Knowledge Infrastructure(CNKI),China Science Periodical Database(CSPD),Chinese Citation Database(CCD),Chinese Biomedical Literature Database(CBM),PubMed,Embase and Cochrane Library were searched to collect the randomized controlled trials(RCTs) on acupuncture and moxibustion in the treatment of postoperative gastrointestinal function of colorectal cancer from the inception of the databases to May 2021.Two researchers independently evaluated the quality of the included literature and extracted the data.Meta-analysis was performed by Revman 5.3.Results:Eighteen articles were included, with 17 Chinese articles and 1 English article, involving 1 523 patients. The Meta-analysis revealed that compared with the control group, the observation group had higher efficacy in the recovery of gastrointestinal function(RR=1.11,95%CI 1.02 to 1.21,P=0.02),shorter time of first anal exhaust(SMD=-1.07,95%CI -1.31 to -0.83,P<0.000 01),shorter recovery time of bowel sounds(MD=-8.40,95%CI -10.23 to -6.57,P<0.000 01),and shorter time of first defecation(SMD=-1.06,95%CI -1.32 to -0.80,P<0.000 01).The source of heterogeneity was not found by sensitivity and subgroup analysis. Conclusion:Acupuncture and moxibustion can effectively promote the recovery of gastrointestinal function of patients with colorectal cancer after operation. However, due to the low quality and large heterogeneity of the included literature,large-scale,multi-center and high-quality RCTs are needed for further verification.
