Nano-traditional Chinese medicine(TCM) is an important innovation in the field of TCM preparation after the emergence of nanotechnology which can effectively solve the problems of insoluble effective components and low bioavailability of TCM.This paper analyzed the development and limitations of TCM preparations.Through the introduction of two nano-TCM preparation technologies，i.e.，nano-ultrafine technology and drug nano-carrier，as well as nano-suspending agent，nano-eutectic，mixed suspension gel，and other dosage forms of nano-TCM，this study analyzed the shortcomings of current nano-TCM preparations and discussed the optimization direction of nano-TCM preparation technology and dosage forms to provide ideas for the further innovation of nanotechnology in the field of TCM and references for promoting the modernization of TCM.
