To observe the analgesic effect of wrist-ankle acupuncture combined with body acupuncture on frozen shoulders and its influence on the levels of plasma substance P(SP) and β-endorphin(β-EP),and to examine the mechanisms of wrist-ankle acupuncture in treating patients with frozen shoulder. Methods:Ninety patients with frozen shoulders treated in the Department of Acupuncture and Moxibustion of Shanghai Eighth People's Hospital from February 2019 to June 2021 were randomly divided into a treatment group(45 cases) and a control group(45 cases). The treatment group was given wrist-ankle acupuncture combined with body acupuncture, and the control group was only given body acupuncture,10 times as a course of treatment and lasting 2 courses. The short-form McGill pain questionnaire, the levels of plasma substance P and β-endorphin,and the Constant-Murley shoulder joint function score were evaluated before and after treatment in the two groups. Results:After treatment, the pain intensity scores of the two groups were significantly decreased(both P<0.05),and the treatment group was lower than the control group(both P<0.05).The plasma SP levels of the two groups were decreased(both P<0.05),and the treatment group was lower than the control group(P<0.05).The plasma β-EP levels in both groups were increased, and the treatment group was higher than the control group(P<0.05).The Constant-Murley shoulder joint function scores of the two groups were higher increased(P<0.05),and the treatment group was higher than the control group(P<0.05).There were no adverse events in either group.Conclusion:Wrist-ankle acupuncture effectively alleviates frozen shoulder pain, improves the shoulder joint functional mobility, reduces the SP level, and increases the β-EP level.
