Diabetic nephropathy(DN) is one of the important causes of end-stage renal disease. In the context of the metabolic memory theory, advanced glycation end products(AGEs) deposit in the kidneys, leading to a delayed and difficult-to-cure progression of the disease, which coincides with the theory of latent pathogen in pleurodiaphragmatic interspace in traditional Chinese medicine(TCM).Based on the theory of latent pathogen in pleurodiaphragmatic interspace,it was proposed that the pathogenesis of DN involved insufficiency of qi and yin, impaired qi transformation, mutual obstruction of phlegm and stasis, and latent pathogen in pleurodiaphragmatic interspace. In terms of treatment, emphasis is placed on promoting the unobstructed flow of the triple energizer. In this study,DN was treated from the perspective of latent pathogen in pleurodiaphragmatic interspace. The application scope of this theory was expanded, and new ideas for the TCM treatment of DN were explored.
