Hypertension is a common cardiovascular disease in clinical practice, mainly characterized by elevated arterial pressure, and it seriously affects human health.Numerous studies have demonstrated that moxibustion therapy for hypertension has good clinical efficacy and no adverse reactions.Zusanli(ST36),as a commonly used acupoint in moxibustion for hypertension treatment, plays an important role in current clinical practice. In recent years, researchers have explored the mechanisms underlying the blood pressure-lowering effects of moxibustion at Zusanli(ST36) from multiple angles and perspectives. However, there has been no comprehensive review summarizing the relevant results. This study summarized the mechanisms of moxibustion therapy at Zusanli(ST36) for the treatment of hypertension, including its regulation of the central and peripheral nervous systems, inhibition of immune inflammatory responses, improvement of vascular endothelial function, antioxidant stress, and enhancement of blood circulation, aiming to provide a theoretical basis for the clinical application of moxibustion therapy at Zusanli(ST36) for hypertension.
